“Get your boiler serviced before the next big freeze”! That’s the advice from gas and electric specialists Electrogas.uk . With some weather forecasters already predicting another cold and snowy winter in 2015/16 neglected boilers could struggle to cope with increased demand for warmth.
‘This is definitely one of those cases where prevention is better and cheaper than cure’, says John Laundy of Electrogas.uk. ‘There is nothing worse than broken central heating when it’s freezing outside, and emergency repair callouts can be costly. Houses with broken heating during a cold snap face the added problem of frozen pipes and potential flood damage. Landlords need to be particularly aware that they have a duty to make sure their rented properties are habitable, so tenants without heating in the winter can be a real problem for them. Having your boiler checked and serviced is not an absolute guarantee that it will cope, but it will cut out many of the causes of boiler failure and considerably improve your chances of getting through the winter unscathed’.
